Chief Administrative Officer
The RDKS is seeking an energetic leader to provide executive support and administrative leadership. As the ideal Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) you will provide expert executive guidance and ensure policies and direction approved by the Board are implemented. You will also develop operational and local initiatives and strategies on a wide range of undertakings that serve the community. You are the primary communicator between the executive Board and the administrative staff team and will ensure that direction from the Board through policy, bylaws, or resolutions to the Strategic Plan is carried out.
What Skills, Competencies and Experience Does the CAO Possess?
You bring experience in establishing and maintaining an administrative organizational structure to ensure maximum productivity and administrative effectiveness as well as the ability to develop and lead a cohesive management team with emphasis on teamwork, staff involvement, and sound communication practices. As an innovative leader and strong communicator, you will demonstrate and promote leadership skills in the management roles of delegation, communication, coordination and personal organization. You are a strong leader with extensive knowledge of the Local Government Act and Community Charter as well as municipal budgeting and finances. With your track record of success in strategic planning and community development you bring the ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively, and productively. You have the ability to motivate and manage your diverse team including recruitment, evaluation, and performance.
You have five years of progressive experience in senior local government management, preferably with previous CAO experience.
You have graduated from an accredited post-secondary institution with a degree or diploma in Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related discipline or have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel to a variety of Regional District locations and other meetings within the province is required. This role requires a results-oriented individual with exceptional communication skills. You must be interested in building strong reciprocal relationships throughout the Regional District especially with the local First Nation communities.
