What Will the Carpenter Do?
Working under the guidance of a Supervisor, the Carpenter:
Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Prepares layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Measures, cuts, shapes, assembles and joins materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Builds foundations, installs floor beams, lays subflooring and erects walls and roof systems
Fits and installs trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
Maintains, repairs, and renovates residences and commercial structures
Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
May prepare cost estimates for clients.
What Skills and Experience Does the Carpenter Need?
This is a thriving, challenging, and engaging opportunity for an experienced Carpenter with a personable, very approachable and positive demeanor. As the ideal candidate you bring:
Completion of secondary school
Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or A combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry is usually required to be eligible for trade certification.
Trade certification is an asset
A Valid Driver’s License
