The Community Ventures Society (CVS) is a non-profit (for-benefit) society serving the Tri-Cities and beyond (Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Mission and Abbotsford). They provide Foster Families, Children's Respite, Life Skills, Community Inclusion, Specialized Children's Residential, Outreach, and Shared Living services to support people with developmental disabilities and their families. What Will the Director of Operations Undertake?
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Society’s staff, programs, and service delivery in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the society. The mission of the organization is to open doors to opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families so that they live the life they choose.
As the Director of Operations, you will oversee the working of programs, the staff team, and all facilities. You will ensure all programing is consistent with CVS policies, values, and vision as well as implement and manage the organization's strategic plan. Your duties will also include overseeing and maintaining the annual operational plan and budget, leading the daily management of the Society’s programs and services, while overseeing five management staff. You are responsible for the prudent risk management of the society, and compliance with all fiduciary and legal requirements for the society. You will also ensure that the programs and services meet the needs of the community and clients and creates a working environment that fosters the values of CVS.
What Skills, Competencies and Experience Does the Director of Operations Possess?
This is a busy, challenging and engaging opportunity for an experienced non-profit leader who is committed to providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. As the ideal candidate you bring strong written and oral communication skills with outstanding interpersonal, business and political acumen. You have a proven track record of working with a Board of Directors, financial management, and programming. You have a strong interest in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with funders (CLBC and MCFD) as well as key community stakeholders, most especially family members.
You will have a degree in Human Services or a relevant program area (a Masters degree would be an asset) with over five years of progressive leadership experience in a non-profit or community social services organization.
