Established in the early 1980's, the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council (NNTC) was given the responsibility to protect and advance the title and rights of the Nlaka'pamux Nation. Title and rights are our way of life, our ties to the land and our responsibility to protect for future generations. 

Our team is seeking an Employee and Training Coordinator for a full-time position.  The position offers schedule flexibility; however, you must be prepared to be based out of Lytton and undertake work within the entire NNTC area.

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide information about employment and training to First Nation community members

  • Help community members identify employment goals and assist with career planning

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Meet with community members to obtain employment history, education background and career goals

  • Guide community members through career goals, planning, employability skills and education assessments

  • Promote awareness of training and employment initiatives

  • Liaise with community organizations that are involved with training and employment of Aboriginal persons

  • Work with your team and educational institutions on applications and access to funding sources

This challenging and rewarding opportunity will appeal to professionals that possess a Grade 12 or equivalent education, a Career Development Practitioner Certificate (or the willingness to obtain) with Human Services and Motivational Interviewing coursework. Two years employment counseling or client-based service experience plus program design and development experience especially within First Nations communities is requested. Experience facilitating sessions for resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and self-marketing is required, as is a valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle.
