The Parks and Roads Manager
The City of Campbell River is seeking a dynamic and solutions-oriented leader to manage the Parks and Roads Departments: overseeing the construction, operation, and maintenance of the City’s roads and parks infrastructure. As the ideal Manager you will come with a depth of experience in managing teams, coordinating priorities, and delivering services in a responsive, safe, cost effective, and efficient manner. You are responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive annual work plans and programs in support of the City’s urban and rural road, pedestrian and bicycle networks, and municipal parks, sports fields, green spaces, urban forestry, and cemeteries. Reporting to the Operations Manager (Parks and Roads) and liaising with other city departments you will ensure a coordinated effort in the delivery of services.
What Will the Parks & Roads Manager Undertake?
This is a newly created unique position offering the opportunity to truly make this role your own. You bring excellent performance management and employee relations skills as well as high quality professional standards and practices with your experience in municipal infrastructure. As an innovative leader, a positive contributor, and strong communicator, you ensure the provision of quality operations and services for residents and visitors. You are a strong, collaborative leader with the ability to motivate and manage your diverse teams. No two days will be alike with the diversity and variety of the work offered.
What Skills, Competencies and Experience Does the Parks and Roads Manager Possess?
You have five years of progressively responsible experience in public works operations including overseeing the planning, construction, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure. In addition to your three years of supervisory experience in a unionized setting, you hold a post-secondary technical diploma from a recognized educational institution in Civil Engineering, Parks Planning, Management or Administration, or a related discipline. You have three years experience in civil construction in the role of directing field work and conducting field inspections. If you are registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC or have another similar designation that will be considered an asset.
You have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of infrastructure services and requirements as well as project management experience.
