The Water Manager

The City of Campbell River is seeking an accomplished and proactive leader to manage the Water Department, overseeing the operation, repair, maintenance, and servicing of the City’s water system and infrastructure. As the ideal Manager you will come with a depth of experience in managing teams, coordinating priorities, and delivering services in a responsive, safe, cost effective, and efficient manner. You are responsible for the source water protection, water treatment/disinfection, water distribution, water demand management, SCADA, minor capital projects, and emergency preparedness. Reporting to the Operations Manager (Utilities) and liaising with other city departments you will ensure a coordinated effort in the delivery of services.

You bring excellent performance management and employee relations skills as well as high quality professional standards and practices with your experience in municipal infrastructure. As an innovative leader, a positive contributor, and strong communicator, you ensure the provision of quality operations and services for residents and visitors. You are a strong, collaborative leader with the ability to motivate and manage your dedicated and skilled team.

What Skills, Competencies and Experience Does the Water Manager Possess?

You have five years of progressively responsible experience in public works operations including overseeing municipal utility operations or the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of water related infrastructure including preventative maintenance programs. In addition to your three years of supervisory experience in a unionized setting, you hold a post-secondary technical diploma from a recognized educational institution in Civil Engineering, Environmental or Water Technology, or a related discipline. If you are registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC, have a valid Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOOCP) certification in water distribution and/or treatment, or have another similar designation, that will be considered an asset.

You have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of water services and requirements as well as project management experience.
