Founded in 1982 and officially recognized in 1998, MABC plays a pivotal role in promoting and advocating for the midwifery profession. Additionally, MABC provides valuable education opportunities and professional services to its members, ensuring the continuous development and enhancement of midwifery services in the province.

The Indigenous Midwives Advisory Council
The Indigenous Midwives Advisory Council (IMAC) operates under the auspices of MABC. IMAC's primary mission is to provide strategic guidance for Indigenous midwifery and to enhance access to culturally appropriate sexual and reproductive care for Indigenous communities across their entire lifespan.
What Will the Indigenous Project Director Undertake?
Reporting to IMAC and the MABC Executive Director, the Indigenous Project Director (IPD) is responsible for executing projects, in collaboration with project teams, that achieve strategic goals meeting the evolving needs of Indigenous midwifery within the province.
As the IPD, you will be responsible for the successful coordination and execution of project activities in support of Indigenous midwifery goals. You will be in alignment with strategic objectives, collaborating with stakeholders, manage risks, engage with government officials and communities, oversee communication and finances related to your activities, staying informed on relevant health policies, and conducting strategic analyses.
What Skills, Competencies and Experience Does the Indigenous Project Director Director Possess?
This is an integral and rewarding role that will contribute to the growth of midwifery within the province. As the ideal candidate, you are experienced working with Indigenous Peoples and communities with demonstrated history of engagement in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner. You possess knowledge and understanding of diverse Indigenous communities, including relevant legislation, government structures, programs, positionality, and ongoing challenges.
Other requirements include:
· Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, project management, political or social science, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
· Three or more years of government relations experience and a strong understanding of provincial, municipal, and Indigenous government processes and institutions.
· Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in project management software and tools.
· Strong ethical and professional conduct.
· High level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
· Well-developed critical thinking and analytical skills, with proficiency in researching, summarizing, and presenting complex information in various formats and settings.
