NNTC Business Development Officer

Established in the early 1980's, the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council (NNTC) was given the responsibility to protect and advance the title and rights of the Nlaka'pamux Nation. Title and rights are our way of life, our ties to the land and our responsibility to protect for future generations.
Our team is seeking a Business Development Officer, for a full-time position based in Kamloops or Lytton with travel throughout the Nlaka’pamux homeland, as required.
The main purpose of this role is to:
Identifies and rationalizes economic opportunities
Develops and implements relevant economic marketing strategies
Assesses and plans for community development needs
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Researches, analyzes, develops and implements economic development plans
Drafts reports and makes presentations to leadership or community members, when required
Maintains relations and communications with existing businesses and industry while encouraging retention and expansion
Promotes and supports the continued development of our natural resource strengths
Provide economic and business development information to interest groups, other levels of government and business development proponents
Provides advocacy and support to new business proponents, industry, community services and community organizations
Providing advice, recommendations, and preparing reports on all economic development activities
Arranging various workshops for community members and First Nation entrepreneurs with respect to private and public business ventures
This rewarding opportunity will appeal to professionals with some work in economic development, business development, preferably within a First Nations environment. This individual should also have:
College or University degree in Commerce, Economics or a related field
Working experience in Economic Development, marketing, and public relations
Demonstrated experience working as a positive team contributor
Effective written and oral communication skills
Possess a current and valid Canadian Driver’s License
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, manage conflicting priorities, and work well under pressure in a rapidly changing environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including proficient presentation skills
Proven leadership skills as a senior executive working on economic development, business development and/or venture development.
