Stk’emlupsemc Enterprises Inc (SEI) is the Business Development Arms of the Stk'emlupsemc Te Secwepemc Nation. The Business Development department is guided by a mission statement “to provide for the creation of a prosperous community” while adhering to the values that “all community economic development will be socially, culturally and environmentally appropriate to Stk’emlupsemc Te Secwepemc Nation.” In its simplest form, their Business Development department can be described as action taken locally by a community to provide economic opportunities and improve social conditions in a sustainable way.  Our community initiates and generates our own solutions to economic problems leading to positive concrete changes in communities by:

Stk'emlupsemc Te Secwepemc Nation

Stk'emlupsemc Te Secwepemc Nation (SSN) consists of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and Skeetchestn Indian Band, one of the seven historic “Divisions” of Secwepemc Nation. The Stk’emlúpsemc te Secwepemc Nation are responsible for Aboriginal Title and Rights on their Territory. Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc Band is a progressive Band on the leading edge of self-sufficiency for their approximate 1000 members (living both on and off the reserve). They pioneered Indian Property taxation and have created over 200 direct jobs and over $200 million of regional economic activity. The Band, which operates over 10 corporations, added 20,000 acres of fee simple land, and crown leases for resource development, partnerships with investors, entrepreneurs and other investment/economic opportunities.

The Economic Business Development Officer

Reporting to the SEI Board of Directors, you will be responsible for the professional expertise, program direction, planning, and operational implementation for the short and long-term economic business development of SEI. This includes the coordination, direction, and implementation of programs and projects that support economic commercial, office, and industrial development; workforce development; the attraction of and assistance to domestic and international businesses; small business development initiatives; and/or other economic development, redevelopment programs or projects. This position oversees program administration including, negotiating, contract management, stakeholder communication, general administration duties, among other aspects to ensure the management of all economic aspects within SEI.

You are intrinsically innovative and make an effort to improve performance or operational activities by trying new things and looking at opportunities to bring a new approach to the status quo. 

You have a degree in Business or Economics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A class 5 Driver’s Licence is required. Experience working with First Nations communities, an understanding of SSN culture and traditions, and knowledge of First Nation governance, government programs and services would be an asset.
