James + McIntyre is a focused and dedicated accounting and advisory firm with two offices on the Sunshine Coast plus two more in Victoria and Calgary. This dynamic firm is seeking a Sunshine Coast based Staff Accountant to join their tax and accounting team.

 As a member of the accounting team, you will provide thoughtful and clear tax and accounting problem solving for clients. Reporting to the Partners, your Key Accountabilities Include: 

• Preparing year end working paper files for compilation engagements, including all necessary supporting documents and schedules

• Personal tax return preparation

• Corporate tax return preparation

• GST filing as assigned

• Annual T-slip preparation (T4s, T5s, T5018s, etc.)

• Ad hoc accounting support and calculations

• Bookkeeper training, support, and relief

This is a progressive role and is well suited for someone looking to move into a more client-focused manager level position. This is a full-time role with flexibility in the days and hours worked. You possess a strong understanding of accounting theory gained through a diploma or certificate in accounting and a good knowledge of Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards. Having or working towards a CPA designation will be considered an asset. With your exposure to software such as Sage, Quickbooks, Caseview and Caseware, you offer the ability to solve problems, make good decisions, juggle changing priorities, and manage your own deadlines, time, and budgets. You possess a strong sense of personal integrity and ethical practices.
